Shweta Dhariwal spent over a decade working with textile artisans across India before she started WhiteWater Kids with her sister Ankita in 2017. Both sisters live with visible disabilities, Shweta has vitiligo, Ankita a walking disability, and the brand's approach to inclusion comes directly from having spent years being stared at rather than seen.

Every collection starts with one of Shweta's own poems, later translated into the block prints and embroidery on the fabric itself. The artisan network spans Kantha embroiderers in Bengal, including a 200-woman collective led by a craftswoman named Aslima, and Ajrakh block printers in Kutch, so a single onesie usually carries the fingerprints of more than one craft tradition.

The clothes themselves are organic cotton, sized for children up to 24 months, built around the idea that a baby's skin absorbs far more than an adult's does, so nothing complicated goes near it.

Caveat: this is a small, artisan-run operation rather than a mass manufacturer, so restocks on specific prints can take a while.

Best for: parents who want something with a story attached, not just soft cotton.
