Swathi Sri Ravikumar and Ashwanth Suresh Babu were batchmates at Kumaraguru College of Technology in Coimbatore before either had a baby of their own. What eventually became A Toddler Thing started with Swathi researching why locally manufactured cloth diapers barely existed as a category in India, and drawing on her in-laws' textile heritage to actually build one, rather than importing a Western template and hoping it translated.

The range runs on a muslin blend with bamboo and aloe vera across two tracks: diapering (Ultra Diapers 2.0, newborn cover diapers, inserts and liners, padded "Ultra Undies" for the transition-out-of-diapers stage) and clothing built from the same fabric logic (jablas, sleepsuits, co-ord sets, swaddles, cotton jhulas). AZO-free dyes and certified organic fabrics run through both.

Worth knowing before you buy: cloth diapering is a real lifestyle switch, not a drop-in replacement. It comes with its own wash routine (pre-rinse, dedicated detergent, sun-dry) that the brand documents in detail on its site, and new absorbency takes a few washes to fully kick in. It's a commitment, not a convenience upgrade.
