The idea started at a kid's birthday party, when co-founders Apoorv Gupta, Ashwini Kumar, and Rajat Jain watched expensive toys lose a child's attention within minutes. All three IIT Delhi alumni, they built Smartivity around designing DIY construction, science, and art kits that pair physical building with an augmented reality app.

Every product goes through in-house testing with a panel the company calls its "STEM Ninja Kids" before it ships, and the brand has been recognised by Newsweek, TIME, and The Toys Association, most recently winning Toy of the Year in Denmark in 2025.
