Vijender Reddy Muthyala and Manas Ranjan Hota were flatmates in Bengaluru who got tired of unreliable plastic water cans, couldn't justify spending ₹20,000 upfront on an RO purifier and noticed most of their peers had the same problem. DrinkPrime was their answer: an IoT-enabled purifier delivered and installed for free, maintained for life, in exchange for a monthly subscription starting at ₹333.

The technology is genuinely smarter than a standard RO. Before installation, tap water at your specific address is analysed. The purifier is then calibrated to that locality's contamination profile: TDS levels, sediment, bacteria rather than applying a one-size-fits-all filtration level that often strips out beneficial minerals. The app shows real-time filter health and water consumption. Unused litres roll over. Revenue jumped 54% to ₹72 crore in FY25, with 2 lakh+ households served.

The honest picture from reviews: the model works well when it works. When service is needed, experiences vary by city and technician. Filter replacement frequency and security deposit refunds are the two most-cited friction points. The requirement for an internet connection to operate has frustrated some users. DrinkPrime is best suited for renters, frequent movers, or households that want zero maintenance overhead not ideal for homeowners who'd rather own outright.
